Hey girl hey! My name is Melissa Kilner (middle name Mae). My short story? I’m a photographer, mom of 3 (with two pups), and I’m on a quest to help men and women everywhere feel confident, brazen, and empowered in their own skin. Want the long version (including all of my deepest darkest secrets)?

My Version of a Chic Snuggie

This is my ultimate “I feel bloated, and I want to be warm, but still feel chic” outfit. I love it because I can run around town for errands or meet friends for lunch and feel pulled together but super comfortable. I love combining complementary patterns (plaids + stripes are an easy way to do it), and I think it’s a fun way to keep it interesting. I think a classic white button up or a fitted tank would also be great as well if that tickles your fancy. I think what I love most about this outfit, is that we all wear pants + shirt + scarf + purse. It’s not that crazy of a combination, but this goes to show that if you’re mindful of the kinds of pants or finding a special scarf, you can go from typical to unexpected. Plus the oversized scarf is the best! It’s pretty much an excuse to wear a snuggie all day, so I’m alll over it.

These wide leg trousers are from Target of all places. I love them for a couple of reasons. First off, if there is a trend that I love but not sure how long it’s going to stick around for (or if it’s something that I’m sure will stay in my closet long-term), not investing a million dollars in it feels like I can justify the purchase (at least that’s what I tell myself hahaha). Secondly, you guys, I am SO SHORT. And I’m 100% certain that these puppies are supposed to be cropped on everyone else but for me? JUST. RIGHT. I will say a downside to these pants is that they don’t have a liner, so when you’re tucking shirts in, it can look a little bunchy. Oh, and this particular shoot day it was super dry out and there was static from HELL (as you can see from some of these photos). But nevertheless, wide-leg sailor pants for under $40 that fit me off the rack? I can deal.

Pants: Target  (just a side note, because of the way I wanted the pants to lay, I literally went up two sizes larger than normal)
Sweater: similar Forever21 or Nordstrom
Scarf: Nordstrom
Clutch: similar Nordstrom
Earrings: AnnTaylor Loft
