This outfit is pretty much me fashion-vomiting all of my favorite things (is that a thing?…because it is now). First off, I have to talk about this skirt. Me and pencil skirts have never gotten along. I’ve had three kids, have zero elasticity in my skin (thanks genetics), have the loveliest
little not little overhang of stomach pooch that I’m trying to embrace (and in doing so, have named her Velma). Yes, she’s a girl. And yes, she’s a total bitch.
Long story short, pencil skirts have never done a thing for me. They show off all the things about my body that I dislike the most. UUNTIIIIIILLLL NOOOOOOOW (please read that as intended, with an Oprah voice and jazz hands, naturally). I don’t know what Express did to this skirt to make it so magical. Maybe it’s the asymmetric cut of the front, or it’s sprinkled in unicorn dust, but I’m obsessed. It has literally been the only pencil skirt I’ve been able to find that makes me feel confident in my body.
This coat was an online find from White House Black Market a couple of years ago, which makes me so sad, because they don’t have it in stock. But I tried to link up some similar ones for you guys because I get stopped everywhere I wear this thing. It originally came with a belt, but I accidentally broke it on an escapade in Vegas (evidence that I had a ridiculously fabulous time).
Can we talk about how berets are back??! I have been obsessed with the French culture ever since I was a little girl. My ancestors came from France, which I’m pretty sure that means I’m practically Parisian (which is probably where my love for bread comes from). So wearing berets makes me SOOO happy. This one from Amazon is super inexpensive while still being high quality. If you want to go big, Dior has some INCREDIBLE leather ones, which I’m pretty sure come with a free French accent (don’t quote me on that).
You guys, the clutch is from Target!! TARGET!!!! They have stepped up their game so much this past season and I can’t wait to show you my favorite pieces!! I love me some designer couture, but I also love to pair them with fun pieces that aren’t going to make me want to gag giving them away a year from now. Because lets face it, my wardrobe tends to revolve rather quickly, and that ain’t cheap.
The shoes are Sam Edelman’s and I’ve had them in my closet for a couple of years. Animal print is pretty much a neutral in my wardrobe (as you will soon find out). I love these shoes so much. Not only do they go with practically everything, but they are one of the comfiest heels I own. If I’m going to be networking, mingling, or doing a lot of dance fighting, there is a 75% chance I’ll be wearing these babies.
