Hey girl hey! My name is Melissa Stone (middle name Mae). My short story? I’m a stylist, mom of 5 (with two cats), and I’m on a quest to help men and women everywhere feel confident, brazen, and empowered in their own skin. Want the long version (including all of my deepest darkest secrets)?

Brazen, Through and Through

I fully believe that everyone should have at least one “signature” outfit. An ensemble that you put on and every fiber of your being feels like your best self. It doesn’t have to be complicated- it can be a great pair of jeans and a T-shirt if that’s what really makes you feel amazing. Do you have one? Because GIRL, you deserve to feel like your best self, at all times.

This is my outfit. When I die, I fully expect to be buried in these clothes. They make me feel smart and sexy, fun yet pulled-together. This blazer by Rachel Zoe is EVERYTHING. It’s so incredibly soft for being sequin, and ridiculously comfortable. The sleeves are a tad long for my shorter arms (STORY. OF. MY. LIFE.), but I love the extra little detail and excuse of rolling the sleeves.

I’ve worn this shirt in past posts, as it’s a staple in my closet. It’s a “boyfriend” cut, which I love, because it gives me some extra room and I love doing a little tuck in the front when I’m just wearing it with jeans. Want a way to feel updated and modern with all of the button-ups that you already have in your closet? Button them all of the way to your neck! It’s a big trend this year, and it doesn’t cost you a thing (you’re welcome, bank account).

THESE JEANS. First off, if you are familiar with my instagram stories, you will know that I loathe jean shopping. LOATH. IT. There is something that feels so completely degrading about going into a dressing room with 15 pairs of jeans and having them all look terrible, some pairs not even getting past my calves. The experience starting with me chuckling at my reflection, finding humor in how some brands and cuts just don’t work for my body, and then it usually ends with the sales lady feeling timid and trepidatious about knocking on my dressing room door and asking how I’m doing one. more. time. This pair was a recent discovery that made me thank the heavens audibly. I wear distressed jeans about 75% of my life, usually because I tend to overdress on every other part of my body, so having holes in my jeans makes me feel a little more well-balanced (that makes total sense, right?). Oh, and these ones have some good stretch to them too. Comfortable and prepared for an impromptu dance party?! The feeling exists, my friends.
